This is how a travel portal advertises a vacation home on the North Sea at the end of March 2020. That was before the tougher lockdown measures made it difficult to travel even to vacation homes in your own country. It’s the thought that counts and this one is spot on. A retreat in beautiful countryside and with good air can work wonders. In individual cases, the children and partners will probably want to have a say in the matter if mom or dad goes on a “business trip” for a few weeks to the beachfront work apartment where vacationers otherwise live. At the latest when school-age children have a reason to stay on site, the “working from anywhere” of individual members of the family could well become controversial.
However, we have heard other reports from acquaintances. Lawyers spend entire working weeks in their own vacation home on Sylt. Also with family during the school vacations or as long as the schools are closed. For singles and best agers, whose children are out of the house, the situation is easier anyway. Those who have their own vacation home or apartment would like to be there longer, even to work. Then, from mid-2020, colleagues have told us about their first EFC experiences from Greece, Portugal, Spain or Italy.
We assume that these trends will become permanently established. With our offering at Yaloya Club, we therefore want to enable professional work from attractive locations. This requires good technical equipment. Nobody wants to work permanently in an alternative office only with his laptop. Monitors or printers are not really elegant in travel luggage. Here we can help. Not every lawyer has his own finka in Majorca or other appealing real estate at mountain, sea and lake. Not every lawyer can or wants to invest in a vacation home and then always return to the same place. Often it is enough for most of them to have convenient access to a selection of appealing locations in order to work from there for stretches of time.
The bottom line is that working from wherever you want should no longer be exotic in professions where it is fundamentally possible. Accommodations should be considered fit for professional work wherever the surroundings are beautiful and have a positive effect on work morale and mood.
